JORDANELLE STATE PARK HOSTS U.S. COAST GUARD AUXILIARY Heber – On August 9 and 10 at Jordanelle State Park, members from the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary conduct their annual training. Park visitors can receive free vessel safety checks and information on boating safety courses. Auxiliary members will also be on the water to assist boaters with mechanical and safety-related issues. This event is held to celebrate U.S. Coast Guard Day Sunday, August 4 when the US Coast Guard was formed as the Revenue Marine August 4, 1790 by then Secretary of the Treasury Alexander Hamilton. In January 1915, the Revenue Marine merged with the U.S. Life-Saving Service to provide the nation with a single maritime service dedicated to saving life at sea and enforcing the nation’s maritime laws.
