JOURNEY INTO THE PAST…..with an original SCHON guitar. Designed by NEIL SCHON and built by Grover Jackson in San Demas, CA in 1986. There were actually two versions of this SCHON guitar built. The original, like mine, was built by Jackson Guitar in 1986, and then after a dispute between Neil and Grover, Larrivee Guitars of Canada was hired to build them but that didn’t last long either. From my collection. DATA FOR THIS GUITAR: The Jackson Model YOM: 1986 (only year Jackson SCHON was built) MADE IN THE USA Scale: 24 ½ (Larrivee model was 24 5/8”) Body Shape: Original SCHON Single Cutaway. Body Wood: Maple and Alder Wings Neck: Neck through construction Neck Wood: Maple Finger Board: Ebony Fret: 24 frets (Larrivee has 22) Fret Wire: Slightly fatter and rounder than the Larrivée model Binding (Neck & Headstock): Yes Pickguard: Slightly smaller than the Larrivee model (And the right bottom corner has a round edge) Pickup (PU) Cavity: Rectangle for flexible PU Config. Pickups: EMG “Gold” Single Coil in NECK and MIDDLE positions. EMG “Silver” Humbucker in BRIDGE position. (NOTE: These pickups do not have “SCHON” on them. Those only appear on the Larrivee guitars.) INSTALLED AT TIME OF MANUFACTURE (all solder joints are ORIGINAL). PU switch: 5 ways (1: Neck, 2:Inside coils on both pickups, 3:Neck & Bridge, 4:Outside coils on both, and 5:Bridge) Controls: 1 Volume and 1Tone EQ: Yes. JE-1000, 3 dip switch EQ and 9V battery in the control cavity Bridge: ACT3, Floyd Rose Tremolo: ACT3, Floyd Rose licensed model Serial Number Position: Original JACKSON SCHON guitar always has SN stamped at the last fret on its finger board as NS6 - 0xxx. SN: 0068 Back Cavity Cover: Steel (Plastic Larrivee.) Color: White Headstock Color: White Matching. Weight: N/A Heavier than the Larrivee model
