JOYFULLY SERVING CHRIST True Love A man walking along a California beach was deep in meditation. Suddenly the sky clouded above his head and, in a booming voice, a Genie said, Because you have been a very good man, I will grant you one wish. The man said, Build a bridge to Hawaii so I can drive over anytime I want. The Genie said, Your request is very materialistic. Think of the enormous challenges for that kind of undertaking The supports required to reach the bottom of the Pacific! The concrete and steel it would take! I can do it, but it will nearly exhaust several natural resources. Take a little more time and think of something that would really help you in this life. The man thought about it for a long time. Finally he said, I wish that I could understand my wife. I want to know how she feels inside, what shes thinking when she gives me the silent treatment, why she cries, what she means when she says nothings wrong, and how to make a woman truly happy. The Genie replied, You want two lanes or four on that bridge? I believe the greatest problem men and women have in understanding one another comes from a failure to always act toward each other out of true or godly love. Many times what we portray as our efforts to understand are merely a means of attempting to get the information we need in order to win an argument, or pronounce some judgment. True love stands by silent, when it does not know what to say that will help. It suffers in silence when the object of its love is perhaps raging about some ill perceived slight or affront. It seeks only to redeem, reconcile, remember and treasure the other person. 1 Cor 13:4-8 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails. NIV Go Joyfully Serve Christ Today, [Today, if you will be totally honest with yourself and the Lord, you can have true life by praying this simple prayer: “Lord, I know I am a sinner. I know that Jesus died because of my sins. Right now I confess my sins to You, and ask you to come into my life. Forgive me and cleanse me. Accept me into your family. I give myself to You, and ask that you birth me into Your Kingdom, and that You fill me with Your Holy Spirit.”] Freely Share This Post–Bobby T. Hood
