JPC: Having been a bit busy Ive not been able to post here as much as I would of liked. Tomow is 200 for the 1 Jan ers. 200 days X 50 or so people = 10,000 days of experience 10,000 days of experience which yields 10,000 days of knowledge. From 1K walkers to 10K runners. Knowledge and experience which spans the entire breadth of our design. Folk have had to stop for reasons. Folk have run and come through injuries and understood active recovery and how to come through illness. I guess its easier for me to understand the significance of this than it is for most. Its easy to take it for granted…easy to under-estimate here what has been achieved as we focus on ourselves rather than the tribe together….personal joy at times and huge disappointment at other times. Those that have withdrawn or who have stopped for whatever reason…well they have contributed to the 10,000…their experience and knowledge is just as important as those still in the challenge. It will be essential next year when we try to explain to the Jan 1st 2015 starters as to what to expect when undertaking such a challenge…and how they can best manage it…manage their time…their hearts…their minds…and their bodies. I thank each and every one of the Jan 1st starters no matter what has happened subsequently. I hope those that have had to withdraw understand that their experience is priceless also. I hope they will join us when they can and share their knowledge where they can. I hope they will start again next year. For those still in this…my colleagues…walking/running/swimming/cycling…whatever you have done and do to stay in this…I salute you all. You are amazing. Truly amazing and truly inspirational. Your battles have been incredible to witness. The world doesnt really understand the significance of this I feel. There were times last year where I would approach a table of folk and explain and they wouldnt care and would want me to go away. There were other times…many times…where they got it. Focus on the latter as opposed the former. There were times when race organisers would simply ignore your presence…and there were other times where they were happy and excited that you were there. You have to understand people I guess and not get dejected when they dont get it. Its hard sometimes…hard much of the time. Why dont they get it?…Im working so hard…why dont they get it?. People often dont want to get it. There is often envy and tinges of jealousy. They wish they could have done what you have done. I get that. There were occasions where I would try to get an announcement at a race…and the organisers would say sure…but they werent really interested. I was an annoyance…another thing to pressure them. …but every now and again…every now and again…there is a race organiser or a run club person who totally gets it…you feel their support and they shout about you. And when this happens it is one of the most amazing experiences you can have. And you know that person or people…you like them a lot…they are cool as hell So well done tribesters….well done no matter when you started. If its 200 for you tomow then ace…if it isnt then please remember we are here for you…we value you. We look forward to your 200. If you had to withdraw…we value you also. You are still….still to us…a part of this tribe should you wish to be so considered. If you are supporting our tribe then we value this also. We value each and every one who has been associated with our little challenge. We value the families and children who have helped mum and dad through. Those who have sponsored…those who have clapped and cheered. Our tribe is charachterised by many things…and appreciation and thankfulness are two of the biggest… …so good luck tribe and friends to the tribe…we like you…like you a lot
