JU VC, agitating teachers sit with parliamentary committee→ JU Correspondent Vice Chancellor of Jahangirnagar University (JU) Prof Anwar Hossain and the agitating teachers sat in a meeting with the parliamentary committee on education ministry on Wednesday. Rashed Khan Menon, lawmaker and also head of the committee, presided over the meeting where Education Secretary Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury and eight other parliament members were present. Prof Hanif Ali and Prof Kamrul Ahsan, convener and secretary of the teachers’ forum respectively, joined the meeting on behalf of the agitating teachers. Returning from the meeting, the agitating teachers under the banner of ‘General Teachers’ Forum’ sat in another meeting themselves which was going on till filing of this report at 8:00pm. They termed the meeting with the parliamentary committee successful and hoped that the stalemate would end soon. On the other hand, despite repeated attempts, the VC could not be contacted over phone.
