JUDGEMENT AND SALVATION He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS (Rev. 19:15b-16). Our scripture (Revelation 19:1-21). Many people gladly accept the idea of a God of love, but reject the idea of a God of judgement. They believe God will warmly welcome everyone with love, and never judge and condemn. In the end, they believe, love will succeed in winning all but the worst people. This popular view cannot be found in the bible, and it reflects a false view of reality. Most of the worst things that happen in the world result from people hurting one another. Ordinary people, who do not appear evil and who many assume that are basically good, sometimes do unspeakable evil. Similarly groups of ordinary people can organize themselves and work together for their shared interests, even though their actions may hurt others. In this extreme, the group`s comfort may come at other peoples` expense. These sins must be judged, stopped, and corrected if possible. In the Bible God`s judgement and salvation are two sides of the same coin. In order to rescue and renew creation, God must defeat everything that enslaves and ruins it. Even judgement serves for the salvation of the world. In the end, Babylon falls while the city of God flourishes. Dear Jesus may we help in any way to further the Kingdom of God, so that many people will escape the judgement of God, and we may see you soon. We are eagerly looking for the day when we can see you face to face. This may be selfish, but I am ready, and can say, Even so Lord Jesus come! (Paraphrased, David Kendall, RE--FLECTING GOD 10/5/14). Fear God and give him glory, because the the hour of his judgement has come. Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea and springs of water (Rev. 14:7b).
