Associate Professor Farid Ahmed of Philosophy Department, who conducted the election as the Chief Election Commissioner, has officially declared the result around 2:30pm. Associate Professor Mojammel Haque of Computer Science and Engineering Department and Assistant Professor Fokhrul Alam of Pharmacy Department were present as the deputy election commissioners. The JUJA general election was held at JUJA office in Teachers-Students’ Centre (TSC) from 10am till 1pm on Saturday. Some 45 voters out of total 48 have applied their vote-right, Farid Ahmed said. Daily Star correspondent Najmus Sakib Rafsan, Alokito Bangladesh correspondent Belal Hossain Rahat, Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha correspondent Sayed Eltefat, Manab Zamin correspondent Mahamudul Hasan have been respectively elected as vice president, joint secretary, treasurer and, office and publication secretary. Daily Sun correspondent Moudud Ahmed Sujan, Daily Observer correspondent Shariful Kabir Shamim and Doinik Bartaman correspondent Fahima Tuz-Zohura were elected as the executive members of the committee, source said. A total of 20 candidates competed for the nine posts. The nine-member executive body of JUJA has elected for a year. The elected members will take the charge of the organisation on July 14. JU Teachers’ Association, Dhaka University Journalists’ Association, Rajshahi University Journalists’ Association, Jagannath University Journalists’ Association, Savar Press Club congratulated the newly elected members, sources said.
