JULY 16, 2014 – NATIONAL PERSONAL CHEF DAY – NATIONAL CORN FRITTER DAY NATIONAL PERSONAL CHEF DAY Each year on July 16, it is National Personal Chef Day. This day, is celebrated by millions of people across the United States honoring personal chefs. We want to thank them for the delicious dishes they prepare, their hard work preparing meals for households, seniors, and many other settings. A personal chef is described as a chef hired to prepare meals in clients’ home kitchens, based on the client’s needs and preferences. A personal chef may also prepare dinner parties and other special events. A personal chef differs from a private chef in that the private chef is employed exclusively by one client and may even live in the clients home. A traditional savory Southern United States snack, corn fritters are typically made from a mixture of corn kernels, egg, flour, milk and melted butter. Either deep fried, shallow fried or baked, they are usually served with jam, fruit, honey or cream. Another version found across the country is made with creamed corn, which are then baked and served with maple syrup. Corn fritters are often mistaken for Johnnycakes.
