JULY 19, 2013 THOUGHTS FROM JOB CHAPTER 23 OVERVIEW Job is still steadfast, bold and confident. He is so sure that even God will not find a reason against him. However, he explains how he has searched for God to no avail. He declares how a faithful follower of God he has been, how he has kept God’s word in himself. Nevertheless, he understands how sovereign God is. Regardless of God’s unavailability and silence, he still yearns for his presence. Koot van Wyk says, “The faith of Job…is framed, underlined, and highlighted in this chapter and is the center piece of the whole book of Job. “ LESSONS 1. Today, Job has reminded us to be confidence and bold as we approach the Father. It is in our approach that ways and means of help and rescue are opened to us. Paul affirmed, “Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” This attitude has serious implications as we are living in the great day of judgment, the investigative judgment. 2. It is true that in that in the darkest hour of our lives God seem to far and not listening. Nonetheless, the firm believer of Yahweh is called upon to wait upon Him. It appears that such a process strengthens one’s faith in. It happened to Job. It also happened to Jesus. It can also happen to you. Barry Black said, “You have got to learn to trust Him when you cannot trace Him.” 3. Job also understood that he cannot question why God was behaving in that particular way. He is sovereign and His ways are unfathomable. He operates from His Holy Sanctuary and no man can stand that. Our wisest option is to keep silent as long as He remains in the Sanctuary for “He lives to make an intercession for us.” Micah said, “The Lord is a witness against you, the Lord in His Holy Temple.” It is good for the Lord to speak against from His Holy Temple, than outside it. Dear God, We thank you for the advocacy that we have in your Jesus Christ. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
