JULY 23, 2014 OPEN LETTER TO MR PRESIDENT ON PDP PLAN TO SNATCH STATE OF OSUN FROM APC WITH MAXIMUM VIOLENCE ON AUGUST 9 We are constrained to write this open letter to Mr President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria that he should quickly and resolutely order his party to halt any plan to violently rig the August 9 governorship election through the undemocratic process of militarizing the state and terrorizing its citizens with thugs dressed in military camouflage shortly before, during and after the election. Mr President, we have also been reliably informed by dependable inside sources within the PDP that a mass arrest and possible assassination, (are in the works) of top government officials loyal to our party, including our party elders who are said to be on the hit list of the PDP. We are totally astonished by the alleged role of your Ministers of State for Defense and Police Affairs who are said to be complicit in this demonic plan. This allegation suggests that the federal government-owned security apparatus is being planned to be put to illegal and unconstitutional use against the very same people it is designed to protect. As commander-in-chief of the armed forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, there is practically no way the security apparatus under the charge of these Ministers can undertake such a major operation without at least the knowledge of Mr President; which makes the Presidency implicitly involved. Our first instinct was to disbelieve this possibility but on second thought we realized that the entire exercise is being stage-managed by the PDP in support of Mr President’s second term ambition. What surprises us the most, however, is that contrary to Mr President’s ascertion that his Presidential ambition was not worth the blood of any Nigerian citizen, the blood of the Yoruba nation is already being spilled for the purpose of making Mr President’s ambition a reality in 2015. PDP, with impunity, got away with murder to seize Ekiti State through a fraudulent electoral process. They are now being encouraged to plan a massacre in Osun. And a very loud conspiratorial silence is coming from the Presidency that wants us to believe that it does not accept blood-letting of any Nigerian citizen for his presidential ambition. Mr President, Sir, if you are unaware, which we totally disbelieve, let us give you a run down of what we know the PDP is planning to do to violently and fraudulently CAPTURE Osun State on August 9. We are reliably informed by PDP insider sources that: 1. PDP will invade Osun State with soldiers and other security forces about a week before the election in Osun to intimidate the citizens. 2. A militia force in military camouflage will flood the State and terrorize citizens. They will be armed for war like terrorists to strike fear into people and scare most of them from the polling booths. 3. A PDP hit list for arrest and assassination has been drawn-up (copies attached to this letter) of top government functionaries and APC party elders. It perhaps may interest Mr President that top on the PDP hit list of party elders for assassination is Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the incumbent governor of State of Osun himself. 4. Explosives and incendiaries have been amassed by PDP for use in Osun before, during and after the election. As part of a reign of terror to silence the people if there is any wide-spread protest against a rigged PDP victory, the party, which the President incidentally leads, will unleash the combined forces of the military, police and combat-ready militia on the state, killing, maiming and setting buildings ablaze. There are other sinister plans of the PDP which have been revealed and which will be put in the public domain in the coming days that tell a terrible tale of the determination of the PDP to kill Osun citizens so that Omisore could become governor and Jonathan President. In all these, we are even more staggered by the complicity of INEC in the rigging plan. Suffice it to say that except the Electoral Commission is compromised, no election can be rigged in Nigeria today given what INEC told us it had put in place to make elections rig-proof in the country. However when the APC insisted that all the measures INEC had in place to make the voting rig-proof should be used in Ekiti and in Osun, the INEC refused to deploy the “card reader” which is central to the rig-proof mechanism. Now, Ekiti election has gone wrong and the entire electoral process is being challenged albeit after the PDP won a fake victory in a bastardized process. But all the tricks deployed to make the result different from reality have been revealed. Which means Ekiti trick can no longer succeed in Osun, which is why we have been told the PDP is determined to kill citizens to win in August 9. Mr President Sir, if there is a river of Yoruba blood spilled in Osun to make PDP win, will you renounce your ambition for a second term or joyfully announce your determination to contest in 2015? If you do decide to run, then the PDP’s militarized election-wining machine will need oceans of Nigerians’ blood for you to become President of the country for a second term. Mr President that will be disaster unlimited for Nigeria. We are bringing this stark reality to your notice now to at least give you a mental picture of the dangers ahead. But to avert this we therefore demand the following: 1. To stop harassment, intimidation, threat of arrest, indiscriminate arrest of innocent citizens, party leaders, members and public functionaries in the State of Osun before, during and after the August 9, 2014 gubernatorial election. 2. Mr President should call the Ministers of State for Defense and Police Affairs to order and compel them to make sure the election is as incident free as possible, and totally stop the use of armed soldiers and combat-kitted militia ready for war in Osun 3. We demand as a matter of necessity that INEC be compelled to use the “card reader” for Osun’s election if the commission will not stand accused of complicity in PDP’s plans to rig the election. After all, the device is primed and ready for use. Why is INEC refusing to use it? 4. The President should give the country and the world guarantees that he is totally committed to a free fair, peaceful and un-manipulated electoral process in Osun without which his credibility will further dip and democracy will be irredeemably at risk. We believe that if Mr President means well for this country and its democratic development, he should dissociate himself from the allegations against his party plot to rig in Osun and restore confidence by instructing INEC to use the “Card Reader” to ensure that the voting process is clinically rig-proof, and the electoral process is not manipulated. We are sending copies of this letter to all Embassies within the diplomatic circle in Abuja, and we intend to sensitize all foreign election observers of the alleged PDP plots so that they can compare with facts on the ground at least a week to the election when the abnormal things are planned to begin to happen in Osun Thanking in advance that you will demonstrate that you are a President who truly will not allow Nigerian blood to be spilled to fulfill your personal ambition; We remain in the service of our country and party Your Compatriots SIGNED SIGNED Elder Adelowo Adebiyi Prince Gboyega Famodun CHAIRMAN SECRETARY
