JULY 8TH CIRCUMCISE YOUR HEART Jeremiah 4:4 “Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and take away the foreskins of your heart...” The heart in the Bible usually refers to either the soul or the spirit; at other times, it is used to refer to the collaboration between the soul and the spirit. It is your heart that produces what you see in your life (Prov. 4:23).For a land to keep producing year in and year out, that land requires some maintenance. In the same manner, our hearts require cleansing and maintenance. But often times, we fail to give the necessary attention to our hearts until it starts degenerating. We do this when we allow the circumstances or challenges we face to define our lives and our decisions .This is why our text reminds us to circumcise our hearts and let go of negative experiences. Matt. 24:12 makes reference to persons whose love for God waxed cold, implying that the first joy and zeal with which they did the things of God was no longer there due to negative experiences with sin or evil. This continues until the heart can no longer trust anyone, including God, because a foreskin of mistrust, fear and doubt has developed. A hardened heart cannot trust; without trust, a man cannot have faith, and without faith, you cannot receive from God. God is calling on you today to consciously let go of negative thoughts and memories in your past so that He can have room to work in your life. His Word cleanses (John 15:3) and if you will begin to yield to His Word today, he will cleanse and circumcise your heart and your experiences will begin to change. Praise God!
