JUNIOR GAME REVIEW - Under 16s Well the 2014 Season is under way for the Under 16’s. We found ourselves with a difficult first grading game, up against a very formidable and well established opponent in Abbers for Round 1. We entered the match with much anticipation and expectation, however our boys encountered a very polished and precise side. Our First half was a bit flat and we were not able to bring the intensity of our opposition. Aberfeldie were able to gain a significant break on us. Despite being short on numbers and limited in rotations available, we asked the boys for a big second half effort, and while the final scoreboard might not reflect this, the team really lifted the overall intensity and aggression towards the ball, which as a coach is very pleasing. The Boys should be proud that when they had their backs against the walls, they did not throw in the towel and proved they could match the intensity required at this level. We limited the free flowing style of Aberfeldie and gave a much better contest. As a Team, we are aware of what is required, what we need to do, and where we want to be. Its only Round 1 so lets not hit the panic button. We have plenty of opportunity to show this league what we can do. When you run into a bit of adversity, the only way to beat it is to tackle it head on. I have every confidence in my squad , and know they have it in themselves. A bit of Luck on the injury front ,and a lot of hard work, and they will get some wins on the board. Shaun Newell Under 16 Coach
