JUST A KID Written By Jered Fuller Sunday, June 9, 2013 Mommy and daddy fought today Daddy made mommy cry Then daddy packed his suitcase And said goodbye I chased after daddy down the drive Crying for him to come back But daddy sped off into the night Disappearing into the black I’m helping mommy at home Now that it’s the two of us I have to be mommy’s good boy And behave and not make a fuss I go to school everyday And I always try my best Sometimes I’ll come home to find Mommy on the couch taking a rest I know I’m not supposed to know But mommy stays up late I hear her crying down the hall Hoping daddy learns his fate I know I’m just a child I’m not supposed to understand But when mommy cries like this I know things are out of hand Mommy tries to sugarcoat The reasons for daddy’s way But deep down in my heart, I know Daddy will be back someday He’ll think of me and miss me And regret what he did I love my mommy and daddy For I am just a kid
