JUST A REMINDER: This is just to remind all of you that this year you will be receiving a form, similar to a 1099 form, from your health insurance companies. This is the first year they have to report if you have health insurance and at what level you are at. So you should be receiving a form from your insurance company - DO NOT THROW IT OUT!! Why? Because this year you will have to report on your tax return the information on this form - bring it to your tax accountant. It is important because if you cant show you have insurance you will be subject to a fine. Now, let me also tell you, who ever you have as a dependent on your tax return also has to have this form from the insurance company. If they dont have, you will be responsible for your dependent and pay the fine on your tax return. So if you have your mom, kids, any other dependents, you must show they have insurance. That is the new rules under the ACA of President Obama. As I said, this is just a reminder to keep the form you get from your insurance company and take it with you to your tax preparer.
