JUST DESROYED MY PB AT THREDBO for breakfast....... 20 years motti racing on GP bikes teaches you something - NEVER ACCEPT GOING SLOWER than you know you can and ALWAYS seek specific answers to the reasons why that is the case if it happens. Did 3 FLOW runs for breakfast. On my warm up run, noticed that rear shock was packing down in braking zones. Too much rebound. A packed rear shock means you lose front end grip & steering. Also, your geometry goes to shit. Fixed the packing problem (softened rebound) and improved rear grip in the process. The much more important factors though, were geometry effect, front end grip & the related steering benefit. Also took on board lessons learned from yesterdays race data (gear choice and HR/intensity-of-effort over the full course) Put my head down on the next run and went 15 SECONDS faster than yesterdays race run (9 02). That time would have had me only 1 second off the podium yesterday & very comfortably in 4th place..... Backed-up with another one straight after that & that was still 13 seconds faster than yesterdays race run. I guess I will call that a positive suspension change. I have always maintained that many aspects of motti racing hold great relevance to MTB. Both technically & in terms of methodology. After this mornings result, I will continue to maintain that notion :) Photos - I did not get to National A Grade on this thing by operating on guesswork. It is all about seeking answers and applying your (possible) self-generated solutions methodically. Last photo - RIP Marco. We still miss you big time. You were a top bloke & epitomised the true spirit of 2 wheeled competition.......... Rog at TFB
