JUST DO IT I always enjoy receiving the word of God in various forms like drama, creative writing and poetic forms. I have been inspired in time past by poet who climb the stage to pass their message. After one of those presentations, I was geared up to write a proposal (of a new group responsible for inspiring and training creative writers). When I finished the proposal, I took it to my Pastor. After reading it, she said to me; ‘this is nice and precise, but wait a minute, where is your own article? I began stammering in front of her and giving her excuses like; my writings are not that good, I don’t have a fine handwriting, I am not an English student, e.t.c’. She looked at me with a smile and said; ‘just go and write it. Seven days later, I was ready to present my article to her, not just one but ten. Fear held me captive from doing the desires of my heart. Many of us still battle with fear that has prevented us from reaching our full potential. One of the ways of overcoming our fears is not to run away from it but to face and fight it. Sam Adeyemi in one of his books said; “Fear paralyses initiative and creates imaginary difficulties. Most of the things we fear are things that will never happen. We must be bold. We must take risks.” Be bold and ignore your fears. Take the step towards achieving that thing in your mind. Just do it. Many of us started the year in a very good note by writing out our goals and dreams for the year, but there is something more just writing our goals down. We ought to take responsibilities and actions in doing something this year otherwise something will definitely do us. ‘Obviously, there is little you can learn from doing nothing. If we don’t start, it’s certain we can’t arrive’ – (Zig Ziglar). An insurance magnate A.L Williams said; “Do not spend your life just dreaming about it. A lot of people will try to do it. A lot of people will want to do it. A lot of people will almost do it. But winners will do it. They do whatever it takes to get the job done.” If you want to be a winner this year, stop dreaming about doing it, just do it.
