JUST FOR FUN ANSWER 1966 Austin Healey 3000 Mark III COME AND SEE IT IN ACTION THIS SUNDAY 22 JUNE AT THE HERITAGE RALLY! The 3000 Mark III was the last of the famous ‘Big Healeys’. Introduced in late 1963, it used the 2912cc engine, developing 148bhp, with twin carburettors which were increased in size over the Mark II model. The Mark III was only available in convertible, four-seater, form. A completely new facia was introduced using wood veneer, improved instrumentation and switchgear and a new centre console. Ambla trim was standard and leather was an option. In 1964 the last major improvements were made to the 3000, with a redesigned rear end of the chassis frame. New rear axle and suspension, incorporating radius arms, gave better handling and ground clearance. This was known as the ‘Phase II’ model. The majority of the 3000s found their way to North America and 15, 407 of a total of 17,712 Mark III cars produced were for that market. When more stringent safety and emission standards were introduced in the USA at the beginning of 1968, BMC decided to discontinue the 3000 and one final car was built in that year for the home market. Engine: 6cyl, 2912cc Power: 148bhp Top Speed: 121mph [195km/h]
