JUST IMAGINE!!! ANEBIRA DONT SETTLE FOR THE LESS. State creation: Igala community cries fowl. Igala community in Imo State under the aegis of Igala Cultural and Development Association Imo State Chapter has expressed disappointment at the decision not to consider the long agitated creation of Okura State at the National conference. This is one of the highlights of the communiqué issued by the association shortly after their prolonged monthly meeting, which hosted over 500 Igalans. The meetingurged the Attah of Igala, HRM Prince Idakwo Ameh Oboni to lead a high-powered delegation of other notable traditional rulers and eminent persons in the area to the confab. The communiqué signed by the OnuIgala Imo State, Dr. Moses E. Ajeka, Association’s State President, Elder I.A. Onoja and Secretary General, Saba Sheidu also contended that Igala has native authorities or all it takes to have a state of its own adding that the area is blessed with coal, limestone, oil amongst others.Speaking before the communiqué was issued, Dr. Ajeka stated that the association is disappointed at the Igala leaders atthe confab for not protecting the interest of the people. He also said that other old provinces like Awka, Umuahia and Enugu etc have become capital of their respective states and wondered why Igala should not be one. On his part, President Onoja noted that in Igala, there is no federal presence maintaining that given the historical circumstances of Igala Kingdom, the creation of Okura State would have been a matter of course. On his part, the Association’s vice president, Comr. Daniel Edime also regretted that neither a man nor woman from Igala extraction is at the Federal Executive Council adding that the area massively voted for President Goodluck Jonathan during the 2011 Presidential election.Edime, who is also the Chairman of World Bank Market (New Owerri) Imo State and Provost, Imo State Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) said that the Ajeokuta Steel Industry and Federal Polytechnic, Idah in the area are all in deplorable and sorry states.
