[JUST IN]: 45 passengers are feared dead while nine injured in a TransAsia Airways-operated airliner crash in the outlying island of Penghu in Taipei. More to come ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 40 DIKHUATIRI MAUT : TransAsia AIRWAYS TERHEMPAS DALAM CUACA BURUK DI TAIWAN Reports are just beginning to come in of a plane crash in Penghu, Taiwan. The aircraft has been identified as a TransAsia Airways ATR 72-500 operating flight GE222. Local aviation officials have said 54 passengers and four crew were on board the aircraft. Local fire officials have reported only a few have survived and are being treated for severe burns at a local hospital. Initial reports are saying at least 40 dead in the crash. Apparently the aircraft was attempting an emergency landing do to severe weather conditions caused by Typhoon Matmo when it crashed into local residences and exploded.
