JUST IN: SPC upgrades parts of Ohio to MODERATE RISK for severe storms on Sunday. A moderate risk has also been issued just to the west of Ohio for today. Good Saturday morning everyone! Who is still awake? Or just waking up? Well heres the good news and bad news regarding the severe weather potential this weekend. The somewhat good news is that the severe weather risk area for today has been trimmed a bit and mainly just includes central and southern Ohio. SPC did upgrade parts of Indiana into a MODERATE risk for severe storms for later today (Saturday). Of course that isnt all good news as the threat remains for central and southern Ohio, mainly for late tonight. However it looks like the worst of the storms may stay southwest of Columbus Saturday night but it will be close! So the bad news continues to be the significant threat for severe storms on Sunday. SPC has UPGRADED parts of central and southeast Ohio into a MODERATE risk for severe storms on Sunday. Also notice that the black hatched area on the probabilities map for Sunday which is where SPC believes there could be very dangerous storms which could include wind gusts over 75 mph, large hail over 2 and even tornadoes. The hatched area includes all of Ohio, although the greater likelihood for severe storms will be across the southern part of the state. There is still plenty to keep an eye on though as how storms form today and tonight will play a huge role on what happens on Sunday. Please stay weather aware this weekend and ready to take shelter if severe storms do threaten. Ill have updates later this morning and through the day as new information comes in. Have a good morning!
