JUST MY LUCK After being drafted into the Army in 1965, I finished my 2 years in 1967. I was then required to report for duty in the reserves 2 weeks each of the next two years. The first time I reported for the the two weeks of reserve duty, it was at a naval base at New Port News Virginia. It was a school to learn about LSUs. This would actually give me a new MOS (job title). This didnt make any sense, however, I was accustomed to the Army way of doing things. I had no questions. I had attended classes in the Army sitting on bleachers with it raining so hard we couldnt see or hear the instructors. This Naval school had buildings with doors and window and roofs. The instructors were civilians. I was impressed. About the third day in school I got a toothache. I got permission to go to the dentist. Just as I sat down in dentist chair, the dentist carrying the tray of the usual dental torture devices came in. He slams the tray down on a shelf beside the chair so hard some the tools fly off the tray onto the floor. Then in a loud angry voice shouts. %&*()*&@!@#%^^&. At that moment Specialist 4th class Foxworth thinks. What the hell is this Captain SOB dentist nut jobs problem? As a little kid I had been taken to an Ybor City dentist who filled several teeth without novacaine. This left me traumatized regarding dentists. In my two years in the Army, I had been berated many times and it got to a point it didnt bother me much anymore. However, the thought of this loon doing my dental work did shake me up a bit. Then he yelled again. &*)_%$#@!@$#$%^ reservists come here for 2 weeks and they want their %^&*()()_+^%$#$% teeth fixed. I thought quietly to myself yeah you#$%$%$^&&*(*%$#$@! crazy SOB I just spent 2 years active duty and I have earned that right. Gradually he calmed down and actually did a careful very professional job. I never said a word. I wasnt late leaving that dental clinic. I thought That has to be the worst dentist in the entire military and he was the sorry %^&#@$#$#$%%^%^%I got to work on my teeth. Just my luck!!!!!!
