JUST MY THOUGHTS: There is a documentary coming out in theaters called: When God Left The Building. This might interesting, though I have real concerns based on article about it: christianpost/news/when-god-left-the-building-film-director-the-american-church-is-dying-124019/ . The title is rather miss leading based upon Thom Schultzs observation: During his time filming the documentary, Schultz noticed that the decline in American churches is due to several reasons, including people feeling judged, not wanting to be lectured to, and having opinions such as, Church people are hypocritical and lack humility and I dont experience God at church. It would seem that the god that has left the building, is not the God of the Bible but the god I want and no one will preaching and practice him the way I want. It would seem that this documentary by Group Publishing almost advocates what C.S. Lewis called a God In The Dock theology. This is the theology of the sinner not the theology of God, as Lewis says: This is where God who is the judge and redeemer of the world, is removed from his place and put in the dock, the defendants place while the sinner ascends to the judges seat and demands that God make is case to the sinner to justify believing in Him. These is played out in the church. Experience, rather than the testimony of God, is the only evidence that is acceptable. Its striking to me that the would be Bible scholars behind this fail to realize that sinners are hostile to the God of the Bible, and no amount of sweetness will ever make the true God appealing. The only when the sinner dies under the Law of God and is resurrected the Gospel of Christ is he reading to hear the God of the Bible, only then is he or she reading to humble themselves under the Word of God. If the true God - Father, Son and Holy Spirit has left the building, its because the fullness of His Word has been thrown out of the building to please unrepentant sinners, and no amount of practice, no amount of spiritual experience, no amount of spiritualizing intellectualism, political correctness will ever bring Him back. Is there a desperate need for humility, faithfulness and love need in and from the church - YES! But these can only come from the Word of God preached and taught in its fullness of both Law and Gospel. What is forgotten is that the church on earth is and will always be a house of sinners and only sinners who struggle everyday to live the faith and seeking the saving grace of Jesus Christ to redeem them every moment of the way. Just a thought for those of us who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, He did everything right before God and before mankind, He did everything for God and for mankind, He was living love and for some reason countless numbers left Him and the rest of them killed Him. What did He do wrong? Nothing - He is God as God is and this is unacceptable to those bound in sin. Again, just my thoughts
