Fahey, age 89 years, died in the Ellis Nursing and Rehabilitaion Center in Norwood, Massachusetts on Sunday, October 27, 2013. Born in Cork, Ireland on January 1, 1924, he was the son of the late James and Mary A. (Spriggs) Fahey. He was raised in Roxbury, Massachusetts and was educated in the Boston Public School System. William proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He took part in the European Theatre of Operations and was awarded the Bronze Star twice by General Patton. He has been a resident of Walpole for the past 5 years and had previously lived in Wrentham and East Walpole. William spent his working carrer as a superintendent for Bird and Son in Walpole, which later became Champion International, where he served as the superintendent of the Box Plant in Winslow, Maine. He retired in 1986 with 41 years of service. While working in Maine, he became a member of the VFW in Winslow. Beloved husband of the late Frances L. (Ferrara) Fahey. Loving father of James W. Fahey and his partner Jan Antworth of Old Orchard, Maine, Loretta Porter-Fahey and her partner Terry of Douglas, and the late John Fahey. Cherished grandfather of James Fahey of Attleboro and Jessica Fahey of Walpole. Brother of James Fahey of Braintree, Patricia Smith of Braintree, the late Walter Fahey, the late Sr. Daniel Marie Fahey, and the late Dennis Fahey. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend William’s Life Celebration on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 from 4-7PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole. A funeral home service will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery in Norwood.
