JUSTICE SIR GORDON WARD KE KAU I HE FAKAMAAU TANGI O E 2014 Thursday, March 20, 2014 - 22:34 Nukualofa, Tonga Tonga’s Court of Appeal 2014 session is set to be held from March 31 to April 11, 2014 in Nuku’alofa. The Appeal Judges for this session are Mr. Justice Peter Salmon, and Mr. Justice Sir Peter Blanchard who are to be joined by a new judge Tonga’s former Chief Justice Sir Gordon Ward, according to the Supreme Court. For two-weeks the Appeal Court would hear appeal cases with judgments to be delivered at the end of the sitting. Justice Sir Gordon Ward is expected to be sworn in Cabinet as an Appeal Judge on Monday, March 31 before the session begins on that day. Justice Ward was made a knight bachelor by Queen Elizabeth II in her 2012 New Years honours list, for his services as the Chief Justice for the Turks and Caicos Islands, and his judiciary service for the Commonwealth. He had served two terms in Tonga, first becoming Chief Justice in 1992 and serving until 1995. He became the resident judge in Cyprus until 1998 when he was re-appointed by the Tonga government as Tongas Chief Justice, until he resigned in 2004, before the end of a 10-year contract.
