JUSUN embarks on strike today Members of Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) have been directed to commence a total and indefinite strike today over alleged government’s failure to comply with a judgment of the Federal High Court. JUSUN President Comrade Marwa Mustapha Adamu told Daily Trust on phone over the weekend that members had been mobilized for the strike adding that the action ought to have commenced last Friday but for the Maulud public holiday. He said that the indefinite strike would affect all courts nationwide, until the total compliance with the judgment and the terms of Memorandum of Understanding. JUSUN is embarking on the strike due to the failure of State governments to implement the judgment of the Federal High Court, Abuja which granted financial independence to the judiciary. The strike was also called over alleged breach of Memorandum of Understanding reached between JUSUN and the supervising minister of Labour and productivity and other relevant stakeholders. JUSUN president said that the Union encountered serious difficulties in making state governors implement and comply with the Judgment of the Federal High Court delivered on January 13, 2014. Adamu said that the judgment of the court was served on the Federal Accountant General; State Accountant Generals and States Auditor Generals for compliance. He mentioned that uptil the statutory period of Appeal and now, none of those affected by the judgment or the parties served with the judgment and order of the court had appealed against it.
