Jacaranda Cup Day at Grafton on Wednesday was yet another meeting where the local trainers dominated with three winners going to Grafton based trainers. BANDIT QUEEN opened the scoring with a solid win the first race of the day the Class3 1006m. Prepared by Mark Lynch and ridden by stable apprentice Kasie Stanley BANDIT QUEEN bounced straight to the front from an inside gate and was never headed to score a comfortable win. The 5yo daughter of California Dane is raced By a syndicate headed by local studmaster Brent Davenport and has now won four races and has been placed second on another four occasions from twelve race starts. Graftons second winner came by way of a new horse to the region when the Jo Hardy trained HUNDREZN THOUSANZ ran the opposition into the ground in the Maiden 1706m Like the first winner HUNDREZN THOUSANZ was taken straight to the front by Raymond Spokes and set a solid pace throughout to give nothing else a chance. It was clear coming to the tune that the chasers were well and truly off the bit and the son of Danrich scored with ease. It was the geldings first start for the Hardy yard after having been purchased from the strong Mark Conners stable at Warwick Farm and judging by the ease of the win he will take plenty of catching in a similar distance event in the future. The Paddy Cunningham camp had not had the best of days on Wednesday with daughter Danielle being injured in a trackwork accident, however that was not enough to stop Danielle decamping from the hospital to watch her mare MISS CAITLYN win the final event the BM 50 1206m. Ridden by stable apprentice Jodie Worley MISS CAITLYN covered a little ground in the run but sprinted clear in the straight to win well. It was always the plan to keep MISS CAITLYN in clear air as the stable are of the opinion MISS CAITLYN races much better when not cluttered up between other runners. It is an opinion that is very hard to argue with when you have a look at the improvement in the mare since being purchased by Cunningham for the stable at a tried horse sale earlier this year on each occasion she has been ridden in this manner she has either won or been placed. Whilst on the subject of Hospitals popular Clerk Of the Course Alan Watkins was taken from the races to Hospital on Wednesday suffering from chest pain, it was also a pain for ambulance officers who had their work cut out convincing Wally as he is affectionately known to come quietly. The good news is Wally was released from Hospital on Wednesday night after all checks revealed he was in A1 condition and the pain was probably due to muscle strain caused by assisting a fractious horse en route to the gates, something he has been doing for what seems like an eternity. I am not sure but while we all love him my tip is the Hospital staff would have been happy to see him trotting out the door.... Get well soon Wally.... one of the
