Jack Bruce from Cream died yesterday at age 71. He was just important to Cream as Ginger Baker or Eric Clapton. He was the bass player and vocalist. The three members -- Baker, Clapton and Bruce -- could not get along and broke up in 1968 after just two years -- and 35 million records sold. For 37 years fans asked for a reunion and finally got it in 2005. Below are clips from the (2005) Royal Albert Hall Reunion Concert in London … and clips from the 1968 Farewell Concert at the same arena It is quite a treat to watch both. I was at the reunion show in NY later that year. I think they sold out both shows at MSG. Both the Farewell concert and the Reunion concert are available in entirety on you tube. More importantly -- here is the award winning AMAZING documentary from 2012 about Ginger Baker. I watched it last night and it is quite a film. youtube/watch?v=f9LrLUyIW3c It will probably grip you in the opening moments and you will watch it through to the end without leaving your seat. Ginger Baker will probably be the next to go ... chain smoker and ex-heroin addict now with lung disease ... married four times … hard to believe he made it to age 74. He is having trouble breathing towards the end of the movie. This movie is indeed worthy of an award … it even tracks his journey through Africa.
