Johnson paved the way for black athletes of every sport, being the first to get endorsement deals & massive paydays. He also paved the way for controversial black boxers like Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson & Floyd Mayweather Jr... Ali often spoke of how he was influenced by Johnson, not only by his crafty boxing style but also by the type of man he was outside of the ring. Johnson was a show off, in & out of the ring. He would arrogantly taunt white men by flaunting the white women he dated, at a time when interracial marriage was illegal & race riots were frequent.
