It tests the whole body, engaging muscle groups in the arms, chest, abdomen, hips and legs. It requires the body to be taut like a plank with toes and palms on the floor. The act of lifting and lowering one’s entire weight is taxing even for the very fit.” Ive always wanted to do the Lalanne Push-ups, so Ive made it a goal to accomplish a progressional method of how I was going to conquer those legendary push-ups: ****The following push-ups are for more experienced athletes who have mastered basic push-ups***** 1. One legged diamond push-ups on both sides---- Place hands in front making a diamond shape, raise one leg up, then bring your body down until your chest touches your hands. Then press up to starting position. 2. Forearm push-ups----- Starting in the regular push-up position, drop elbows down and land on your forearms. Your feet will have to move slightly back in order to get to this position. Then press up to return to staring position. 3. Tricep extension push-ups---- Similar to the forearm push-ups, but in this variation, your arms are further out in front of your body. 4. Lastly shown are the Jack Lalanne push-ups ---- Your hands and feet are extended as far out as possible as if you were standing on your tip toes and reaching up in the air. (as girly as this sounds, I didnt show on the finger tips because I had my nails done longer than usual for a wedding. Lol ) Even with my scoliosis and the fact that Im still recovering from a dislocated shoulder (from jumping into a human flag incorrectly. Lol), you can still manage to accomplish goals with the proper modified training. Find strength through your pain!
