Jackies famous, iconic pink and navy bouclé Chanel suit was never cleaned after JFKs assasination. Currently, the suit is kept out of public view in an acid-free container in a windowless room, a secret, temperature-controlled space in the National Archives in Maryland, with the blood of the President still embedded in the fibers. In January of 1971, Coco Chanel had gone for a long drive in the afternoon. Feeling ill, she went to bed early where she died on Sunday, the 10th, at the Hotel Ritz where she had resided for more than 30 years. At the time, Karl Lagerfeld was 38 years old and would take over the House of Chanel in 1983.
