Jackson Browne. If you are not familiar with Jackson Browne,you have somesplainin to do and you have about 45 years worth of music that will blow your mind...Yep, I still say blow your mind. Jackson released his first album in 1972. The record included the songs Rock me on the Water, Doctor My Eyes and Jamaica Say you Will...these are only three of the gems that Jackson unleashed on an unsuspecting public..Jackson also co-wrote The Eagles first hit Take it Easy.Jackson would release his own version of that song on his second album For Everyman..his second album was as good as his first..maybe better...to make a long story short..well, short for me,this has been my reaction to almost every Jackson Browne album since...The man is a truly great singer/songwriter.He is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for a reason... Jackson writes songs that seem deeply personal that resonate with almost everyone that listens..quite a feat. The only other songwriter I can think of that even comes close to accomplishing the same sort of thing is Townes Van Zandt..they are completely different and very similar at the same time...enough of that ...Jackson Browne has a new record called Standing in the Breach..it is a really good piece of work! As soon a I pushed play, I heard jangly guitars that sounded like a really good song by The Byrds...I was hooked.Jackson Browne is a crafty guy..every song has dozens of guitar hooks that would make great songs on their own..that is part of what makes his records so good..every song is crafted to perfection and still not over produced. The last several albums that Jackson Browne has released have been personal and political...he is good at both. I tend to like the personal songs a little more...they are the ones that stick with me. Standing in The Breach is really good.....I have listened to it all day long,every day, since it was released a few weeks ago..I am sure the other workers at La Grande Stereo and Music know this album by heart...I know it is good because nobody has hid it from me...yet.
