Jackson County EMS congratulates our EMS Physician Medical Director Deb Smith M.D. on being named the Kansas EMS Association Physician of the Year. Dr. Smith was presented with the award earlier tonight in Wichita at the KEMSA Conference. Dr. Smith has served as the Medical Director for Jackson County EMS since 2005, as well as for the dispatch center and 1st responder organizations in the county. Dr. Smith also serves Medical Director our sister services in Osage and Atchison County as well the dispatch and 1st responder organizations as well. In addition to her profession as an anesthesiologist, Dr. Smith has a tremendous passion for EMS. So much so, that she completed a transition course to become a Kansas certified paramedic. In addition to being a most valuable asset to our Education and Quality Assurance programs Dr. Smith is a past-appointee to the Kansas Board of EMS.
