Jackson Melrose: "Gusie I agree with you 110%. I was so angry when the NDP leased to the Canouan developers 2/3 of all the lands for 99 years. I wondered then why so much and where our children and grandchildren will get lands to buy in the not too distant future. As a matter of fact the agreement of the NDP with the developers was one of the issues that we highlighted in order to kick the NDP out of office. I pray Gus that the current arrangement does not take away anything from the remaining meager 1/3 of Canouan that was left over by the boldface NDP Government. I hope what is considered for sale to foreigners will be coming from the 2/3 the developers got in the NDP deal. Well the Cumrod Leader said enough about the Ottley Hall issue and I agreed with Cumrod Ralph that the Ottley Hall project should never be removed from the scrutiny of the Parliament and the Government Audit Department. After all when things go wrong it is the poor tax payers, as a matter of fact all of us in SVG who have the bear the grind of paying off the debts the corrupt Politian’s incur. I am angry that the Ottley Hall investigations are in limbo. Please do your best to get the proceedings back on track and jail all the unethical, corrupt thifing bastards who dip their hands in the kitty to fatten their pockets. We don’t want the same thing happen to the Airport Project so while you are at it please encourage the cumrod to demand the same checks and balances that he articulated so effectively for the Ottley Hall project when he the cumrod was in opposition. He was right to do so then and he should practice what he preached then with the Argyle project now. Please don’t let people accuse this Labor government of “do so ain’t like so syndrome.” And to this end am looking forward to see how the bills that will be passed tomorrow will bring accountability and transparency in government and to the Argyle International Airport. And I say again include in the bills everything that ULP demanded of the NDP while they were in opposition as it relates to accountability and transparency of the Ottley Hall project. After all this is the largest project in SVG since conquest and settlement of the country and we know the bigger the project, the more money and the more money the potential for large scale corruption. “ And we don’t want egg in we face next election.” I like most Vincentians support 100% improve air access for SVG and you are right that ” them cant turn it back now” and we are all looking forward to the speedy completion of the Argyle International Airport. So let us do things the right way and don’t do like the NDP did with the Canouan project where then PM Mitchell had it like a personal project – Learn from that open the books to the public and the government auditors. Build the Airport in a way that take into consideration the opportunity cost make sure that whatever is done to secure the International Airport is done in such a way as old people will say “don’t cut off yo nose fo spite yo face.” The best checks and balances will be to go back and see what was said by us of the NDP while we were in opposition uphold those standards and improve on them. Look forward to hearing you articulating this position as you contribute to the bills that will bring accountability and transparency to the airport project tomorrow. Because when the day come is everyone have to pay for it."
