First in it Pujapada Maharaja says, “Practically all of my friends, all the devotees I most admire, and all my favorite kirtan leaders regularly do one or another of these things. So I don’t intend to attack anyone or insinuate that anyone is spiritully defective.” I think this is extremely important! Generally, both ISKCON devotees and my direct godfamily do these things at least occasionally, but most of us are still clearing at least some degree of anarthas and aparadhas, so it is to be expected. “Purity of consciousness, and that what we chant should be what comes to us through the disciplic succession, from the acaryas, not what we hear in Vrndavan, not from our own inventiveness, not what we hear in film bhajans.
