Jagjit, the ghazal maestro, gave an equally beautiful voice to Ghalibs ghazals justifying the beauty of Ghalibs poetry with his soulful compositions, and Gulzar sahab has to be thanked from the bottom of our heart for that. Many of you may not be aware that Ghalibs ghazals recorded by Jagjit, that we all have been listening to for years, actually contained over 10-12 couplets (sometimes even over 15 .....yessss). However, it is not viable to record 10 couplets for commercial release. Due to such and many other limitations only a few select couplets from each ghazal could be recorded for the Mirza Ghalib serial (which was produced by Gulzar sahab) and were released in the music album. Mirza Ghalib, the humourist, is awe inspiring. I have never been touched or moved so much by anyone one elses work as much as his. For a long time, I have been wanting to all couplets of this ghazal and am happy that I could finally find the time during the New Year holidays of 2014. A great poetic start to 2015 for me! I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed singing it. So that the listeners could enjoy the beauty of each couplet, I have added the explanation of each couplet.
