Jake This precious boy was surrendered to us tonight. And he, - TopicsExpress

Jake This precious boy was surrendered to us tonight. And he, just like all the abbey dogs, has a story... When I was driving away from a house the other day where we helped a lady with three stray dogs next door in horrible condition, I happened to see Jake lying down behind a house. It was about 35 degrees that evening, so I figured there must be a reason he wasnt in his dog house next to him. I pulled over & whistled, and when he sat up I could see he was so tangled around the pole beside him that he couldnt get to his house. Well, I knocked on the door & asked the man if he wanted him, to which he replied yes... Then I told him he was tangled & couldnt get in his house. The man walked back there with me & we untangled him. Since he wouldnt let me have him, I asked if I could just take him for the night & make sure he was warm. He said yes, so I loaded him up & took him to one of our vets where I knew he would have a warm bed & lots of food (he was very skinny-26lbs). Well, I ended up getting sick before I could take him back. So, today while Susan Buford House & Lauren Carlisle & Forrest were gracious enough to ride around with me & deliver dog houses, I knew I had to run by there & let him know I hadnt forgotten about him. Lauren & I went up to the door, and the man came out, kind as can be, & told me he wasnt worried, he knew I would be back! So, I asked him again if he would consider giving the dog up to a family where he could live inside & always be warm. I also offered to buy his kids, that he said sometimes played with Jake, a Barbie & a GIJoe, so they had something else to play with. And this is where the abbey becomes a ministry... The man started to tell me that he really thinks it was a blessing that I stopped that day, because his wife had left him a couple of months ago- with no car & their 3 kids- and he really couldnt take care of Jake like he wanted to now, anyway. He said he felt very embarrassed because in all the months theyve had that dog, he had never gotten tangled up like that before-- and of all the days, it was when I drove by & saw him! So, I offered to give him a little money for the dog if he wouldnt get another one, which he said he knew he didnt need to at this time-- and I thought the abbey could also help his kids have a pretty cool Christmas, too... I asked if I could take a picture of all three kids who had come out to greet us, and he said absolutely... So, if anyone is willing to help with a family who may need just a couple of sweet gifts at Christmas while they go through a tough time of separation from their mom & who could use some Christian goodness-- these three kiddos would probably appreciate a Barbie, or a new shirt, or anything that might make them smile- and the dad, too! Its not everyday that people admit me knocking at their door could be a God thing, so Im going to do my best to make it one!!!! ;) Haha If you want to give a little gift to these three cute kiddos, please let me know! Lauren & I will be picking some stuff up for them & would love to be able to deliver a few gifts tomorrow- & even if you want to give a gift card, Lauren or I will go get them something with it--- and please know that even small things go a really long way in kids lives!!! Kindness matters- so much. Or if someone wants to give a donation towards Jake-- either the small amount I want to give as a gift to the man for caring enough to let Jake go to a place that can take care of him, or for Jakes vet bills that I also picked up! :\ (close your eyes if you are on the abbey Board, please!! :\) 601-624-2783 is my cell-- and thank you in advance if you will give them a gift or donate to the abbey! JAKE IS ALSO UP FOR ADOPTION!! AND HES THE CUUUUTEST LITTLE BOY!! He deserves to know what life is like off a chain & with lots of love! Please consider him! Thank you all, the abbey (& me)
