James Arthur Martin, of Mount Pleasant, Texas passed away Thursday, September 25, 2014 at the age of 68 years. He was born in Texas City, Texas on September 7, 1946 to Doris (Hamlin) and Paul Martin. He is a veteran of the United States Army and was a contractor and rancher. James leaves his daughters, Tammie Martin Brockway, Crystal and her husband Sam Ross; 5 grandchildren, Keri and her husband Rob Holland, Dakota Ross, Cheyenne Fleet, Tyler Fleet, Kevi Traylor; 1 great grandchild, Braxton Holland; special cousin, Margret Martin Notgrass; brother, Billy Martin and his wife Lisa; sister-in-law, Lynn and her husband Donald Day; numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margarette Martin; 2 uncles, Ralph and Carl Martin. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Monday, September 29, 2014 at Bates-Cooper-Sloan Chapel. Interment will follow at the Gladewater Cemetery in Mount Pleasant. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Sunday evening at the funeral home.
