James E. Forrest, 78, formerly of New Sewickley Twp., passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2014, in Friendship Ridge, Brighton Twp. Born March 26, 1935, in Center Twp., a son of the late Daniel Bruce and Emma Trimble Forrest, he was a retired employee of Four Points Sheraton Hotel, Warrendale, and a former employee of Keystone Bakery of Bridgewater and Colonial Steel in Monaca. A Presbyterian by faith, he was a peacetime Army veteran, an avid car enthusiast and attended many car cruises. He was a silver star member of the Big Knob Grange. Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Mark Forrest, Freedom, and Kevin T. and Sandy Forrest, Cranberry Twp.; two grandchildren, Jacob Paul Forrest and his girlfriend Michelle of Freedom, and Courtney L. Forrest and her boyfriend Damian Rose of Rochester; six great-grandchildren, Sienna Rose, Brooklyn, Brianna and Alyssa Forrest, and Tony and Angel Peel; a sister, Julia Shaffer, Daugherty Twp.; two brothers, David Forrest, New Sewickley Twp., and Charles Forrest, Pooler, GA, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Mildred O. Forrest. Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the WILLIAM MURPHY FUNERAL HOME INC., 349 Adams St., Rochester, where services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Ronald Brown, pastor of Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, Cranberry Twp., will officiate. Interment will be in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park. The family wishes contributions be made, if desired, to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Western PA/WV Chapter, Two Gateway Center, 13N, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
