James Study Brothers and sisters, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against a brother or sister or judges them speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it. There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you—who are you to judge your neighbor? James 4:11-12 COMMENTARY: Do you realize that when we stand in judgment of another person that we are really acting like God to that person and those around the judged one? Yep, this slander and backbiting that can so easily slide out of our thoughts and onto our lips is really playing God. Maybe that is why it makes us feel good to judge someone else. Maybe if we focused not on their sin, but tried to place ourselves in their shoes and see where they have come from; then maybe we would not be so quick to judge them. Maybe if each of us focused on calling out the Jesus we see in each other, that other junk would fall by the wayside. And if we do not see much Jesus is someone, maybe we call out IN FAITH what God our Father, (theirs and ours) has to say about them! This is a serious infection among the brothers and sisters in Christ. Maybe if we spent a little more time acting in obedience what God was saying to you and me, we would not have time to look upon what someone else is doing...or not. We are to be lights in this dark world. Let us act like the lights we are called to be. Start with me Lord!
