James and I on fathers day started to write down a list of things - TopicsExpress

James and I on fathers day started to write down a list of things hell need for college laptop, mini-fridge, toaster oven, luggage, toiletries and warm clothes. I can still remember getting dropped off at Longwood College and then moving myself into an apartment at Va Tech the following year. I still remember walking the campus of Georgetown University as a small boy thinking about how cool the buildings all looked and the vines climbing up the sides of the buildings etc... I havent stopped to think about how I actually feel about him leaving until I read this article. I grew up my whole life trying to be a father and brother with a mother from another country who didnt quite understand what it was like to grow up without a father coupled with having to deal with her emotional and cultural issues/differences etc... Its time for him to move on and dive into a new chapter of his life and let the social and academic experiences of college consume his life over the next 4 years. Hell be back (summers) and I can always make a road trip up to Durango and after four years he may need some temporary shelter before he kicks off his career. The biggest part about this move is that I hope he picks and chooses his friends carefully and keeps his head in the books properly. There is a time to study and a time to cut loose with your friends and keep everything prioritized as much as possible and I never had anyone lay out any guidelines for me and Ill pass the advice along without trying to be too pushy!
