Jamie Herrell speaks on home court advantage in Miss Earth After being crowned Miss Earth 2014, Miss Philippines Jamie Herrell is now facing different controversies, including speculations that she won because of home court advantage. Herrell was crowned Miss Earth 2014 Saturday night at the University of the Philippines Diliman Theater in Quezon City. Herrell said she does not believe that she had an advantage just because the pageant was held in the Philippines. Sometimes you cant change the mind of people that think that way, I just have to keep quiet on that, she said in a live interview on The Buzz on Sunday. Actually this is the home of Miss Earth, Philippines. Its a Filipino pageant, it started here. And for all of its 14 years, its only been held once outside. And weve only won once, before me, which was Karla Henry in 2008. So for me, its not really a home court advantage, because at the end of the day, it all depends on how much you work for it, and if its meant for you, she added. The newly crowned beauty queen also said she did not expect to win. During the pageant, there were a lot of strong girls, they were all beautiful and everything. So the fact that I was crowned, I was so overwhelmed, then I was so happy, she added. When asked of her advantage over the other contestants, Herrell said she has been asked the question several times. But honestly I dont really know what it is. Cause all I just do is enjoy on stage, and Im just you know, enjoying the whole ride, the whole journey, Herrell said. Like what I said, all of the candidates are really beautiful, it just depends on the judges, cause sometimes it all depends on luck and if its meant for you, she added.
