Jamie has been at TLC for 4 months now. I go down there at least 2 times a week, most times 3 times a week. People ask me if i see a lot of difference, progress, etc. It is very hard to gauge simply because Jamie made such HUGE strides early on. Progress that the doctors said he may never make such as, eating by himself, walking, talking, they tried extremely hard for Kim and I to agree to put him in a nursing home. One of the things that TLC has been working on, oxygen therapy works on is his awareness of his environment. He is doing very well in that area, but it is such a difficult thing to measure. Last night Kim, Jamie and myself had the wonderful opportunity to attend the wedding of a friend of Jamies from high school. Jamie played soccer, John played hockey so their paths did not cross often. After Jamies accident John came by a few times which was very nice as we had not seen him in a long time and it was nice to see what a terrific young man he had grown into. The wedding was held outside, Jamie sat between Kim and myself. It was a beautiful day for an outstanding couple to profess that they wanted to be together for the rest of their lives. The minister was a bit of a character and interjected his humor into the ceremony whenever he could, just adding to the happiness of the day. As the bride and groom stood at the alter he asked them to join hands. Facing each other, they held hands and the minister stated: these are the hands that love you, these are the hands that will care for you always... I did not hear much more of what he was saying due to Jamie reaching over and taking my left hand and placing it on his right hand and then putting his left hand on top. While this was a wedding, Jamie was aware of how those words could also work for him, his way of saying thanks mom in a very private moment. So, the answer to the question how is Jamie doing, the answer is he is getting there. It is still a very long road that we will be traveling, but those tiny little steps that we all take for granted was a huge, monumental step for Jamie. He heard the words, he focused on the words and he saw how they could apply to any situation,,,a bride and groom professing their love publicly or a son who wanted his mom to know that yeah, I messed up, but I am glad to have you by my side PRAY, TALK TO YOUR LOVED ONES, DONT DRINK AND DRIVE
