Jammu,21 July, 2013:-Comrade Sham Prasad Kesar senior leader of Centre Of Indian Trade Union (CITU) has urged the state and union government to concede the demands of the scheme workers like the Anganwadi workers and Helpers, ASHA and Mid Day Meal Workers. Kesar said that the National leadership of CITU raised the problems of these workers in the 45th Indian Labour Conference (ILC) the highest tripartite forum of the country. In the 45th ILC, the Citu had prepared a note on the issues and working conditions of these scheme workers and circulated it among the delegates. The Trade Union representatives, the employers’ representatives, the labour ministry and state Governments supported the demands and suggestions put forward by the CITU. The major demands are like scheme workers be recognized as employees and not called volunteers, be paid minimum wages, social security benefits like pension, gratuity, maternity benefits etc., social security schemes like Aam Admi Bima Yojna, Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojna should be extended to these workers and right to organise and collective bargaining etc. CITU state committee demands that these just and genuine demands of the Anganwadi employees, ASHA and Mid day Meal workers be conceded without delay.
