Jammu, Aug 7: In order to make teaching and learning process in Mathematics easyand funny, a 4 days’ workshop on “Appraisement of Mathematics by means of extra-curricular activities with special reference to magic and funny math workshop”, today commenced at State Institute of Education (SIE), Jammu.The workshop is being organized by National Council for Urban & Rural Development Society, Jammu, with support of NCSTC, Department of Science& Technology, Government of India.During the workshop, more than 50 participants from different institutions of Jammu District will interact with national resource persons apart from faculty of State Institute of Education, Jammu.Earlier in his inaugural address, S.K. Raina,Field Advisor, State Institute of Education, lauded the efforts of Zaffar Ullah Khan, founder secretary general, NCURDS & NCSTC, DST, for organizing such types of workshops in the interest of teachers to make the things easier in Mathematics and Sciences so as to be easily grasped by the students.Kuldeep Gupta, program coordinator, welcomed the participants and gave brief of the workshop throwing light on its aim and objectives and its utility in day to day life of the common masses, especially the students and teachers.Raj Narayan Rajoriya (from M.P.), national resource person, interacted with participants in making various Mathematical concepts such as making various tables, types of Numbers, Square root, Cube Root, finding date of birth and many more things to be taught in the easiest way with well understanding.Rajinder Khajuria from State Institute of Education threw light on use of ICT in teaching mathematics whereas, Archana Sharma, faculty from SIE, Jammu discussed on the concepts of ‘Fractions’ to be easily understood by the children.Brij Lal, Head Mathematics, State Institute of Education, Jammu discussed teaching of mathematics with new technology based on NCF 2005.Ashok Sharma, Field Advisor, State Institute of Education, Jammu, conducted the proceedings of the program.The other resource persons who will be joining the workshop in the next days include S. Gurmeet Singh and Naresh Kohli from Kapurthala, Punjab, and Dr. Ashaq Hussain, Assistant Professor from Kishtwar, J&K.
