Jammu and Kashmir State will be made an island of peace in the entire sub-continent: Mufti Jammu, Aug 6: Former chief minister and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) patron Mufti Mohamamd Sayeed today said that “Vision Document” being prepared by manifesto committee of party will ensure that due share is given to each and every region of the state for its socio-economic development. He said that besides initiating development projects aimed at uplifting socio-economic conditions of our people, Jammu and Kashmir State will be made an island of peace in the entire sub-continent. Addressing a well attended gathering of prominent citizens of Jammu in the first of its kind meet organised by party candidate from Jammu East Bharat Chowdhary, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed said there is a kind of uncertainty prevailing in the state that needs to be ended henceforth by winning over masses and involving them in development projects. Trust deficit has alienated masses, which is also requird to be removed and replaced with better and transparent governance in the state. He said democracy is a battle of ideas and in order to strengthen it PDP has fielded Bharat Chowdhary from Jammu East constituency. It’s now upto the people to pin their hopes in a young, dynamic and a promising leader who is sure to bridge the existing gap. Mufti Mohammed Sayeed also assured that his team along with Bharat Chowdhary will also meet the prominent citizens and try to incorporate their views before finalizing the “Vision Document”. Referring to apprehension of people that Jammu’s economy will be shattered after construction of North-South Corridor, Train to Katra and Nashri Tunnel projects, Mufti Mohamamd Sayeed said that Jammu being the nerve centre will not be allowed to face such a grim situation. The Vision Document will ensure that better travel, trade and tourism infrastructure is created here so that economy of Jammu doesn’t suffer. Referring to 2002 elections PDP patron said that it was because of people’s trust that the then government could deliver but since Horses were changed midstream, many visionary plans could not be implemented. He said that Jammu region has ample tourism potential and the same will be tapped to establish that this region doesn’t suffer because of some mega projects coming up in the state. There are certain projects including development of Mubarak Mandi, Artificial Lake, Cable Car project, Sanasar and Surinsar and Tawi View Front which he believed have been either abandoned or delayed in Jammu and the same will be completed on war footings so that Jammu’s ecomnomy is strengthened. Mufti Mohammad Sayeed said that every effort was put in to bring in a sea change in the system of governnace and those who believed that opening of borders will scuttle peace now want to strengthen travel and trade beteen India and Pakistan. “I have seen enough power but always cared for winning over masses. Days are not far away when borders will become irrelevant and people on both sides will strenghen their travel and trade”, he asserted. MLC Yashpal Sharma who is also party general secretary in his address said that PDP during its tenure in 2002 never did any disparity with any region of the state. He said that people have changed the countrys fate using ballot and now it’s the turn of people of Jammu and Kashmir State to change their fate in coming assembly polls by pinning their faith in PDP. He said that Bharat Chowdhary is a right candidate and is working hard. We believe that he can do well and be a true representative of people of Jammu East and also represent them in assembly ably. Mufti Mohammad Sayed is a true secular leader and knows well about region, he said adding that PDP’s Vision Document will cater to each and every region of the state irrespective of cast, creed, region or religion. Bharat Chowdhary, PDP candidate from Jammu East who organised this meet earlier welcomed Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and ensured that he will work as a bridge between people and the party. He said that Mufti Mohamamd Sayeed has a Vision for all three regions of the state and to implement the same party patron’s hands must be strengthened. He also placed befor the house feelings of student’s community of Jammu and sought redressel of their grievances especially with regard to alleged back door appointments being made in Jammu University. Hotels & Lodges president, Inderjit Singh Khajuria in his address showewd concern over deteriorating economy of Jammu in wake of shifting of general Bus stand and Train to Katra. He sought some remedial measures to ensure that economic activities don’t get affected because of such projects which are also in the larger interest of people. Sanjay Mehra, ex president Bari Brahmana industries association in his addess reminded garthering of massive development projects launched during the tenure of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed as chief minister which helped industries to grow in the state. He hoped that Bharat Chowdhary being a young leader will become true representative of people of Jammu and help develop the state. Advocate, Shiekh Shakeel Ahmad while appreciating programmes and policies of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed said that PDP during past six years played the role of a healthy opposition and now its time to take over the reins of government and deliever ably. He alleged that tainted officers are being patronised and representatives of Jammu have ditched them by cross voting in last council polls as well. Residential areas are being converted into commercial ones right under the nose of this government which he believed has outlived its life. Earlier Vijay Mahajan, Raju Chowdhary and Ajay Chowdhary,amit chowdhary welcomed Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and other guests by presenting them bouquets.
