Jan 26 2014 Jason Jordan and I have been trying to figure out what to say and when to say that 2 weeks ago our world was turned upside down. It has been quite a blur really. We have named our baby boy Chevy, which means warrior and it couldnt be more fitting. We were shocked when we recently found out at 26 weeks, that despite all the screening and having a great and super healthy pregnancy, our baby boy has Spina Bifida...I cant even bear to write the words as I am so afraid for him and saddened by the challenges he will have coming into the world. It is a severe defect of the spine that also causes brain abnormalties, which we do not know the extent of, nor what the impacts will be. What we do know is that he is very fragile and will require major surgery as soon as he is born. We hope and pray that the rest of the pregnancy, his birth and the surgery will go well. What we can also say for sure is that ABOVE ALL ELSE, we are so in love with this little guy, he is AMAZING to us! So brave and strong, he is a blessing to us and we are so incredibly proud of him! We cant wait to meet him in person to hold him and show him how much Mommy and Daddy love him and that we will do everything we can to help him do all that he wants to do in life and to be a happy boy! I guess it is just easier saying this in writing than to tell all of you, our friends in person, as we are a bit emotional at times (ok, for me...all the time). If you feel it appropriate to add baby Chevy to your prayers that would always be appreciated! Thank you so much to our family and friends who have been so supportive, we are so grateful for you all. Ayme and Jason
