Jane Johnstone and I were talking about Jonah Takalua and laughing about this scene attached the other day. Thanks Robyn Tinker, I idid not know about the controversy in Aussie.Apparently some in the Pacific Community find Jonah offensive. I think Jonah is an astute character. Broad for sure, but an excellent platform from which Lilley subtly and not so subtly explores the Polynesian abroad in Australia. If the actual character had been played by a Polynesian this would not be a question but there is always some suggestion of BLACK FACE Pantomime when its a white actor playing racially out of character.
