Jane from White Birch Books requested I make an announcement about my signing books for holiday gifts. Some people let them know they were going to travel quite a ways to be at the bookstore. However, there is no event. Were only stopping by the store to sign books. We never announce when we are going to be there (as my friend Christina learned today :-) .) All these posts you read about how private I am away from Facebook, they really are true. We mostly travel under the radar and appreciate our quiet times together after the life we used to lead in Newburyport. We typically hike alone and like being alone. I will be posting any future public events we have where I will be speaking and signing books, but there are none planned at this time. If you happen to attend one of them in the future, youll see that Im not shy, I just prefer to be off doing our own thing, mostly in the woods . . . or with a book. We have some lovely friends, but even they dont see me very much. This is one of my quandaries about starting a hospice farm. So many have offered to donate and participate, but Ive yet to figure out how public it will be, if at all. Although your kindness and generosity is amazing, I work hard to hold onto the peace Ive found. One of my friends accurately portrays me this way: Tom, youre a social introvert. Very outgoing when you want to be, impossible to find when you dont want to interact. I can be very protective of our privacy, just as protective as I am of Atticus and was of Will. And its not always pretty. :-) Although my friends think its funny and laugh about such interactions. Thank you reading and have a pleasant night.
