Janelle Adams, employee of Cathleen Callahan posted yesterday - TopicsExpress

Janelle Adams, employee of Cathleen Callahan posted yesterday about my letters to the editor in both the Chronicle and Spotlight. Janelle Adams did not disclose in this post that she is an employee of Callahans. I have no reason to defend any of the statements made in my letters as these statements were those of the candidates, Callahan and Martwick. I am posting to clarify. In my post in the Spotlight, the editor verified with the OSB that the statements made by the candidates were not edited and this was printed with my post. I will, again, post the link for those that would like to actually read what the candidates say before you vote and not rely on opinions or statements others post. For instance, question 4, list high school, college and law school attended: Callahan-Western High School, Las Vegas, University of Nevada, Las Vegas, BS, Business Admin. Las Vegas, College of Law, Salem, Ore. Martwick-West Linn HS, PCC, Portland State, BS Social Studies, University of Oregon Law School. Regarding volunteering, which should be relatively low in making a decision for a judge, Callahan has emphasized this over in over in her own statements. Ms. Adams seemed to want to diminish the volunteer activities of Martwick because some listed were done a while back and out of the area. On the contrary, this just shows Martwick has always volunteered and has a very consistent record. The volunteer activities that Callahan has highlighted, most frequently, are those she just recently joined: CASA, 2013, Special Olympics 2012, Clatskanie HealthCare, 2012, SAFE board 2012. This almost gives the appearance, with the timing, that these were joined to put on her judge application in May 2013. I think pushing a disabled person around a ball field IS Noble. But on the other hand, for either lady, how many Easter eggs they hide for the community hunt, is not a qualification needed for the Judges position. Somehow, Teen Court Judge, High School Mock Court and others (regardless where they were held) is more in line with the position being sought, as Martwick listed. You can also read the entire responses of both candidates to the question presented: When asked about her background in juvenile and dependency cases, Callahan stated I have not had a lot of experience in that area, however..... Martwick stated: Ive had about 1/3 of my docket comprised of dependency cases......I have had prior to being on the bench, SIX years of 50% caseload strictly dependency cases representing both children and parents..... thechronicleonline page A6, Oct. 22, 2014. It is time to look at facts and not at emotional pleas.
