Janet Asks:+ I have a question for parents of special needs kids. My cousin has a daughter with special needs (several need)shes in a wheel chair and shes coming to visit. The thing is today while shopping in a local store a woman with her kid in a wheel chair came in the store and she said outloud as a first impression "is he hurt is he ok, whats wrong". I know the mom heard but im at a loss of words idk what to tell her. Then she asked me how come his legs dont work. My daughter didnt stare at him or anything i made sure of that but my question is, how do i explain to her that her cousin is coming and she cant be asking those questions to her mom or anyone. Oh and my daughter is 3.5. Idk how to put this i mean i want her to involve her cousin in playtimes but without having my cousin feel uncomfortable. What are the magic words you use to explain to a 3yr old thatsome people have special needs. I know my msg is confusing and all over the place sorry
